Chelsea’s Development Squad was almost relegated from the PL2 last season, and needed a last minute goal in their last game to save them.
They are clearly determined to prevent a similar situation this time around, and they have moved to strengthen their youth ranks already.
Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard reports that the Blues will sign Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal to strengthen their U23 side, beating “a host of clubs” for his signature.
Hutchinson’s contract with the Gunners has expired, and Chelsea head of youth development Neil Bath has managed to persuade the dangerous attacker that he can thrive in the Cobham setup which has launched so many careers in recent seasons.
He can benefit from it, and Chelsea benefit from his match winning ability in the youth teams.
Hutchinson is already in training with Chelsea’s youth teams, and will join fellow new signing Zak Sturge for preseason with the development squad.
