Chelsea are planning to move for AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan this summer, according to the Telegraph.
The Blues are still busy sorting out their transfer outgoings to avoid breaking Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
They spent £600 million over the last two transfer windows and need to recoup some funds.
Chelsea reportedly want to sign a new goalkeeper and have earmarked Miagnan as a target.
Incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is willing to work with Kepa Arrizabalaga as his number one, but the club wants to reinforce the squad.
Chelsea have reportedly closed the deal to send goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to Al Ahli and need a replacement.
They signed Mendy in 2020 after conceding 54 Premier League goals in the 2019/20 season with Arrizabalaga between the sticks.
Mendy immediately took over from the Spaniard and had a debut season to remember as they won the Champions League.
They also reached the FA Cup final, where Arrizabalaga’s susceptibility from long shots allowed Leicester City to defeat Chelsea.
Many people felt then-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel should have started Mendy ahead of Arrizabalaga.
Mendy had a superb second season, winning the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
He also won the 2021 African Cup of Nations, but his form began to decline and he has been unable to arrest the slump.
Arrizabalaga has since retaken the number-one spot, but Chelsea need a keeper they can trust and have Maignan on their radar.
Maignan broke through when he helped LOSC Lille win the 2020/21 Ligue 1 title. He recorded the most clean sheets in the league.
The Cayenne-born shot-stopper moved to AC Milan for €15m in 2021. He helped them win the league title in his first season.
Maignan has since become a France international. He is the first choice for Les Bleus following the retirement of Hugo Lloris.
Chelsea will have to stump up a massive sum for Maignan to convince the Rossoneri to let him go.
