Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer is in line for a new contract after a stellar first season with the Blues, according to the Telegraph.

Palmer arrived from Manchester City last summer in a deal worth around £42.5 million and signed an £80,000 per week contract.

After bagging 16 goals and 12 assists in all competitions and placing himself as a front-runner for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, Chelsea want to reward him.

However, Chelsea are in no rush to hand him the pay rise, seeing as he has six years left on the seven-year deal he signed when he joined from the Premier League champions.

Palmer is focused on helping Chelsea finish in the best possible position in the Premier League. There is also the FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City to worry about.

The club will be desperate to salvage something from a poor season. They are 11th in the league and have barely improved from last term.

Palmer was vocal about Chelsea’s most recent disappointing result, as they could only manage a draw against struggling 10-man Burnley.

The Wythenshawe-born star will hope the club can add more brilliant signings to bolster the squad to compete next season.

Chelsea’s transfer operations have been questionable under chairman Todd Boehly, with the club placing too much emphasis on signing young players.

More experience is needed, but whether the top brass and sporting directors can identify and rectify the problem is debatable.
