Chelsea starlet Ruben Sammut could earn Sunderland contract

Sunderland are reportedly preparing to hand Chelsea youngster Ruben Sammut a contract this summer.

Sammut is currently on trial with the club and featured in last week’s Under-23 clash with Stoke City.

According to the Shields Gazette, the 21-year-old is out of contract at Chelsea playing to earn a new deal with the Black Cats.

Sammut spent the first half of this season on loan at Scottish Championship side Falkirk, making 16 appearances.
