Napoli are reportedly considering a loan move for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi in the January transfer window, according to Area Napoli.
The 26-year-old centre-back joined Chelsea from Monaco for around £35 million in 2023 but has struggled to make an impact.
Disasi has been criticised for lacking spatial awareness and failing to read danger. He can also be clunky in possession.
However, Napoli are looking to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, and Disasi is seen as a potential option.
The Serie A leaders are reportedly in talks with Chelsea over a loan deal, with the option to make the move permanent in the summer.
Disasi is keen to play more regular football, and Napoli could offer him the chance. The French defender is a talented player and could be a valuable addition to Napoli’s squad.
Napoli’s squad is thin. Any injury to Amir Rrahmani would leave manager Antonio Conte short-handed as he bids to secure a fourth Scudetto for the Partenopei.
Disasi could be a key player for Napoli in the second half of the season. He is a leader who could thrive under Conte.
The Italian turned David Luiz into a solid defender, and he might be able to make something of Disasi.
Chelsea won’t mind getting him off their books. They have Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana ahead of him in the pecking order.
They also have Aaron Anselmino and Trevoh Chalobah out on loan, and they can all step up to replace the Frenchman.
