Injury News: Chelsea handed quadruple fitness boost for Tottenham Hotspur clash

Chelsea could hand starts to Reece James, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling, and Thiago Silva against Tottenham Hotspur in north London on Sunday.

This is according to the Evening Standard, which states that the quartet could be in manager Graham Potter’s starting XI against the Lilywhites. They were all absent from the starting XI in their team’s 1-0 loss against Southampton in the Premier League.

Silva and James missed out on being named in the matchday squads while Sterling and Mudryk were named on the bench. The two rapid wingers are a handful on their day.

James, meanwhile, is an elite crosser of the ball while Silva’s leadership and experience at the back are very vital for the Blues. James’ return, in particular, would be huge for Chelsea.

A huge game in north London

Cesar Azpilicueta has done well in the England international’s absence but the Spanish defender himself picked up a nasty injury in the loss against Southampton. Moreover, James’ attacking abilities and the way he can create chances for his teammates are what sets him apart from the competition.

There is a lot riding on this game. It seems that both Spurs and Chelsea largely have their main players fit and available for this game which could go on to define the two teams’ seasons.

It means a bit more for Potter, perhaps, considering his job has come under threat after a string of poor results. The free-spending Chelsea Football Club have mustered a grand total of one win in their last 10 games across competitions.

A loss at our hands could just be what sends their fans over the edge when it comes to their feelings towards Potter. They have a young team with players like Enzo Fernandez, Mudryk, and Noni Madueke still finding their feet in a new league.

Spurs, meanwhile, have a much more settled squad in this regard. Hopefully, that chemistry is on display when we take on the west Londoners this weekend.
