Chelsea are set to open up talks with Moises Caicedo over a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Caicedo has evolved into a key figure for Chelsea since joining the club in a then-British transfer record deal from Brighton in 2023.
Last season, the Ecuadorian was named Chelsea’s Player of the Year, after helping the Blues to Champions League qualification and Conference League success. He ranked third in the Premier League for tackles won and eighth among all players for interceptions.
After securing the long-term future of Marc Cucurella, Chelsea now want to ensure Caicedo’s best years are spent at Stamford Bridge.
The West Londoners believe that Caicedo is one of the best in world football in his position and plan to offer the player an improved deal.
“One player I would keep an eye on is Moises Caicedo. He joined two years ago and is already on a very important contract and good salary but Chelsea will consider to offer him a new deal,” Fabrizio Romano told the Here We Go podcast.
“They really believe they have one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. They want to give him an even better contract. So, conversations will continue.
“They already had some contact at the beginning of this summer so let’s see what will happen. Caicedo is very happy at Chelsea and Chelsea love Caicedo. They believe internally that it’s difficult to find that kind of player on the market.”
