In a recent report, The Times revealed that Chelsea are set to launch a £50m offer for Everton forward Anthony Gordon this summer. It has been mentioned that the Blues are hoping to secure the services of the English attacker before the end of this summer transfer window.

Gordon’s Impressive Rise At Goodison Park Last Season

Gordan had a decent campaign with the Toffees recently despite going through a relegation scare with them in the Premier League earlier this summer. The Liverpool-born striker was involved in 40 matches for Everton last season, scoring four times and earning three assists in the process across all fronts.

The 21-year-old proved himself to be a hard-working performer in the final third based on his average of 1.3 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the English top-flight. However, he needs to take care of the ball a bit better when linking up play with his teammates in the opposition half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 74.2% in league football (stats via whoscored).

The gifted attacker has successfully established himself as a key member of Frank Lampard’s attack this season. Hence, it is no wonder that Chelsea are looking to snap him up during this summer transfer window.

Should Chelsea Head Coach Thomas Tuchel Get Gordon On Board This Summer?

Gordon is a hard-working forward who can play as a winger on either flank or as a striker down the middle if needed. His work ethic and versatility have made him such a useful member of Lampard’s squad.

The English sensation can strike the ball purely and has got the eye to play a decisive pass in the final third. He is even quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty box.

At 21, Gordon will only get better with each season. Hence, Chelsea will do well to secure his services before the end of this month. However, there are some concerns over whether he will be able to handle the growing expectations at the West London club as he will be expected to win every week.

Gordon will add more energy and dynamism to Thomas Tuchel‘s attack and has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge. He will be a great signing for the Blues in the long run, so the London giants would be wise to get him on board during this summer transfer period.
