According to the Daily Star, Chelsea could sell at least four players this summer transfer window.
The Blues made their latest splash in the market with the capture of Ben Chilwell. The Blues appear far from done, with deals for Kai Havertz and Thiago Silva also nearing completion.
Incomings are not the only agenda at the club. A number of players are also set to depart in what is a summer of change at the club.
According to the report, the players on the chopping block are Michy Batshuayi, Emerson Palmieri, Tiemoue Bakayoko, and Davide Zappacosta.
While the former two have endured bit-part roles, the latter two spent last season out on loan. Their loss would not be a major blow for the Blues given their lack of impact on the field.
While Emerson’s sale could have left us with a spot open at left-back, the capture of Chilwell now makes the Italian surplus to requirements.
Emerson is closing in on an £18million move to Inter. Bakayoko, meanwhile, is set to rejoin AC Milan on yet another loan deal. The Rossoneri do have an option to buy the player for around £25m at the end of the loan spell. (h/t Daily Star)
Emerson might not be the only defender on his way out. As per the report, one of Kurt Zouma or Andreas Christensen could also be sold. Whether this is a direct result of Thiago Silva’s potential arrival remains unclear.
Chilwell will arrive at Chelsea still nursing a heel injury that saw him miss the final few weeks of last season. He could potentially miss the opening game of the Premier League season. He is however not expected to be out for long. (h/t Express)
