Chelsea set for £200 million spending spree once transfer ban ends | OneFootball

Chelsea are set to hand Frank Lampard a £200m transfer budget once the club complete their transfer-ban.

Chelsea were banned by FIFA from registering new players until the summer of 2020 after being found guilty of breaching rules regarding the signing of foreign U18 players, though the club are now set for a spending spree next summer.

According to Goal, the club are currently stockpiling cash from player sales this summer and will hand manager Lampard a huge budget once their ban ends.

The club’s funds have been boosted by the sale of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid for a fee which could potentially rise to £124m, whilst Alvaro Morata’s permanent move to Atletico Madrid has been agreed for next summer at a cost of £58m.

Elsewhere, David Luiz completed an £8m move to London rivals Arsenal on deadline day, whilst the likes of Kasey Palmer, Ola Aina, Tomas Kalas and Jay Dasilva are amongst a host of fringe players who have also been sold.

The number of exits, coupled with Chelsea’s inability to sign players, will see the Blues embark on a significant spree of spending next season as they bid to re-establish themselves amongst Europe’s elite.

Mateo Kovacic’s £40m arrival from Real Madrid was the club’s only business of the summer, Chelsea finding a loophole to secure the Croatian midfielder permanently following his loan spell last season.

Christian Pulisic is also a new signing at Stamford Bridge, though the US international’s £58m arrival from Borussia Dortmund was agreed in January before the announcement of the club’s transfer-ban.
