Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries was watched by scouts from Premier League club Chelsea during the Netherlands’ 3-1 win over the USA at the World Cup yesterday.

According to FCInterNews.it, the Dutchman was being monitored by Chelsea as he starred in the first knockout round match at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar, laying on two assists before netting the third goal to send Louis Van Gaal’s side into a quarter-final clash against Argentina.

Despite Dumfries insisting after the match that he was happy at Inter, the former PSV Eindhoven wingback has become a prime target for Chelsea and they followed up a scouting mission in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw against Senegal with a trip to see him against the USA.

Inter are aware of the West London club’s interest in Dumfries and have made it clear that they will not sell for anything less than €50 million, in order to provide funds for a replacement.

The Nerazzurri are set to see Dumfries carry a weight of €9m in their balance sheets by the end of the season, and this has been taken into consideration in setting their asking price.
