Chelsea are readying a new bid for Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana.

The French defender is Thomas Tuchel's top transfer priority following the arrivals of Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina as he seeks to bring down the age profile of his ageing backline.

Chelsea are now £10m short of Leicester's £80m valuation for Fofana, with another bid being prepared.

The 21-year-old is said to want to move to Stamford Bridge, with Leicester likely having to sell one of either him or Newcastle James Maddison in their current financial predicament.
