Chelsea reach agreement with Xavi Simons | OneFootball

Chelsea FC have reached an agreement on personal terms with Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons (22), according to French media Sports Zone. The 22-year-old is closing in on a move to the Club World Cup winners after a round of “positive and interesting talks” with Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca. The Netherlands international initially joined RB Leipzig on loan from PSG. His move was made permanent during the winter transfer window.

RB Leipzig’s transfer fee to sign Simons reportedly rose to €80m in taking into account performance-related add-ons. Simons has two years left on his Leipzig contract. Chelsea were expected to continue their rebuild of their attack in the wake of Noni Madueke’s departure to Arsenal and Christopher Nkunku’s uncertain future in London. The France international is expected to leave the Blues this summer. Chelsea’s first bid to Leipzig is reportedly imminent.
