Chelsea have not submitted an offer for Lille forward Victor Osimhen, despite reports to the contrary, as they are unwilling to meet his asking price.
Last week, reports in France claimed that an unnamed club had submitted an €85 million bid for the player and the insinuation since was that it was the Blues.
That is the price Lille are seeking for the Nigerian but Football London insist that the club in question was not Chelsea.
Although they are in the market for a striker, they are unwilling to fork out that amount for Osimhen.
The 21-year-old has been in good form in Ligue 1 this season, netting 13 times in 25 appearances prior to the division’s shutdown and premature cancellation.
Chelsea aren’t the only club who have been credited with an interest with Osimhen also being linked to Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.
He also scored against Frank Lampard’s men earlier this season in a Champions League loss and left the Chelsea boss impressed with his performance.
“Osimhen is very impressive and he made life difficult for our defenders,” Lampard said after his side’s 2-1 win.
“He is both fast and strong. I hope he goes on to have a great career.”
Whether or not part of that career includes a spell under the Englishman at Stamford Bridge remains to be seen.
