Chelsea are putting in a hefty offer to sign Inter Milan’s Andre Onana

Chelsea are preparing a sizable offer to sign 27-year-old Andre Onana as Inter Milan are already attempting to sign his replacement.

Inter Milan are in talks with Samir Handanovic to replace Onana at the Serie A club next season, as per Italian outlet Calciomercato, (h/t Express). This could be a hint that they are willing to move the Cameroonian custodian.

Additionally, Mauricio Pochettino has already requested the Chelsea board hire a top goalkeeper for the upcoming season, as the Argentine manager plans to trim down the congested Blues squad.

The Blues have made a priority of signing a goalkeeper for the following season. To make room for a new custodian, Chelsea are currently trying to sell both Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

And it is anticipated that Todd Boehly and his team will have minimal effect on decisions made regarding players’ futures once Pochettino assumes control of the club.

Given that Kepa’s poor form has caused Chelsea to concede simple goals, Onana has proven that he’s worthy this season by helping Inter reach the Champions League semifinal. If the Blues are successful in signing him, he can resolve the problem between the sticks.

Edouard Mendy looked like he was one of Europe’s best under Frank Lampard and then Thomas Tuchel, at least for a while, but he has faded since Graham Potter took charge. It seems like his days in SW6 are numbered.

It is not a big thing for the club to make a sizable bid for a custodian because Chelsea have already done it when they acquired the Spain international. We also need to buy a striker and a defensive midfielder, whose signings could be costly, we ought to bear in mind the Financial Fair Play law rather than spending carelessly.

This is where outgoings will come in handy. If we can sell one or both of Kepa and Edouard Mendy, we can hope to raise funds to please Inter with the transfer fee and onboard Onana’s wages without a big dent.
