Chelsea prepared to offload Levi Colwill, Leicester City interested | OneFootball

Chelsea are open to selling highly-rated Levi Colwill in this transfer window, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old is keen to play regular minutes, but he is unlikely to get that at Stamford Bridge.

Leicester City reportedly admire him, but they want to sell players like Jannik Vestergaard first before making a move for the talented youngster.

Arsenal, Southampton and Everton have also been credited with an interest in the English footballer.

Colwill is a top defender and should join Leicester

Colwill is an academy product of Chelsea who impressed with his performances for the youth teams but hasn’t made his senior debut at Stamford Bridge.

He was on loan at Championship club Huddersfield Town last season, where he made 32 appearances across all competitions.

The English footballer played an instrumental role in helping the Terriers reach the play-off final, where they ultimately lost to Nottingham Forest. The youngster scored an own goal, and the Tricky Trees won 1-0 to secure Premier League promotion.

However, apart from that unfortunate goal, Colwill was outstanding for the West Yorkshire outfit.

He made 1.7 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and an incredible 4.3 clearances per game in the Championship (as per WhoScored). He also scored two goals and an assist last season.

These are all impressive numbers, and he will likely improve over the following years.

Brendan Rodgers is an excellent coach who works well with young players. He has been praised for his work with Luke Thomas, Timothy Castagne and Harvey Barnes.

Chelsea are said to be pursuing Kalidou Koulibaly, Nathan Ake and Presnel Kimpembe, and Colwill’s first-team prospects look very slim.

Moving to Leicester and working under Rodgers could be a good decision for him. He may not slot straight into the first-team but will likely have more opportunities at the King Power Stadium than Stamford Bridge.
