Noni Madueke, Jadon Sancho and Josh Acheampong all make impact but Christopher Nkunku flatters to deceive once more

Chelsea won 3-0 away to Legia Warsaw as they made a decisive step towards reaching the Conference League semi-finals.

After a dour first half, Enzo Maresca brought Noni Madueke on for Cole Palmer and that proved crucial for the Blues.

Teenager Tyrique George scored his first senior goal before Madueke struck twice, handing Chelsea a sizeable advantage to take back to Stamford Bridge for next week’s second leg.

Standard Sport’s Dom Smith was at the Marshall Józef Piłsudski Legia Warsaw Stadium to rate the Chelsea player’ performances…

Filip Jorgensen 6

Had very little to do all night, with Legia not posing a goal threat until Patryk Kun forced one good save late on.

Josh Acheampong 7

Ran the right flank really well. The teenager stuck to his task and was defensively sound as well as offering an outlet the other way.

Tosin Adarabioyo 6

Didn’t have a huge amount of defending to do in the first half. Replaced at half-time.

Benoit Badiashile 6

Tried to thread passes into midfield where possible. Defended well.

Malo Gusto 6

An attacking threat on the left flank who moved further forwards after subs were made.

Reece James 7

Chelsea’s best player in the first half, and then won the ball back for the second goal.

Jadon Sancho 8

Drove at Legia whenever he could and assisted both of Madueke’s goals with incisive dribbling into the box and well-chosen passes.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall 6

Missed four good chances: two headers and one long-distance effort which, to be fair, was well saved. The fourth was a lovely volley which flew just over.

Cole Palmer 5

Tried to run free with the ball but did not have much luck. Replaced at half-time. Not in a great moment right now.

Tyrique George 8

The 19-year-old had a night to remember in Warsaw, breaking the deadlock for Chelsea shortly after half-time to register his first goal at senior level.

Christopher Nkunku 3

Another really poor showing from Chelsea’s erratic French striker, who endured a frustrating evening before missing a penalty.

Subs

Levi Colwill (Adarabioyo, 45’) 6

Took the armband after James went off and had very little defending to do.

Noni Madueke (Palmer, 45’) 8

Came off the bench to make a real impact, scoring twice.

Marc Cucurella (James, 58’) 5

Didn’t see a huge amount of the ball but was tidy when he did have it.

Mathis Amougou (Gusto, 75’) N/A

Shim Mheuka (George, 75’) N/A

Not used: Sanchez, Neto, Fernandez, Jackson, Chalobah, Caicedo, Rak-Sakyi
