Martin Keown is a huge Cole Palmer fan. Every time he talks about him on TalkSport or in his Daily Mail column he waxes lyrical about the brilliant Chelsea attacker.

Then again, who isn’t a huge Cole Palmer fan? He’s not only one of the most effective and dangerous players in the Premier League, he’s also one of the best to watch. In his latest effort for the Mail, Keown pointed out how mad it was that Manchester City were willing to let such a talent go, having had the chance to see him up close for so many years:

“It is still astonishing that City were ever willing to sell Cole Palmer because he has magical powers,” Keown raved.

“Out of possession, he is just as intelligent, knowing when to join Nicolas Jackson in pressing high up the pitch. Palmer is forever on the move, taking up new positions to receive the ball. In possession, he is special, with 11 goals, six assists and more chances created than any other player this season.”

You don’t hear Palmer’s off the ball work praised too often, but it’s true that no player can be a passenger in the modern game, and certainly makes sure he joins in every counter attack to get himself in the best position to add to his crazy goal and assist numbers.

Palmer’s creative side the key in potential battle at Everton

Tomorrow against Everton we expect a tough game against a tricky low block. Palmer won’t have to worry as much about his pressing – his creativity is what’s going to be key as we try to break down Sean Dyche’s team.

The addition of Palmer’s ranged shots has also been huge for this team, and the game might well come down to a piece of magic like that from the Wythenshawe Wizard.
