Chelsea’s owners are worried about the age of managerial target Julian Nagelsmann, according to Sky Sports.

The recently dismissed Bayern Munich boss is only 35. Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are worried about hiring someone so young to take charge.

Chelsea reportedly like his managerial credentials, and he ticks many boxes, but his age is a concern.

The Blues sacked Graham Potter yesterday and have begun searching for a replacement. They have shortlisted four managers and plan to add another name to their list.

Nagelsmann is top of their list despite leaving Bayern only days ago. He wanted to wait until the summer before choosing his next destination, but he is ready to listen to the Premier League club.

He has the advantage of previously working with Chelsea sporting director Laurence Stewart and technical director Christopher Vivell.

The pair would like to bring Nagelsmann to Stamford Bridge, but it will not be straightforward.

Bayern executive Oliver Kahn claimed the former TSG Hoffenheim manager would not manage another club this season.

The Bavarians are still paying Nagelsmann for his contract that runs until 2026. They will likely demand a fee from Chelsea to release him.

Bayern are chasing Chelsea assistant coach Anthony Barry, with new manager Thomas Tuchel eager to reunite with him in Germany. They could exchange coaches and some money.

However, Nagelsmann is not Chelsea’s only target. They are also eyeing Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, and Luciano Spalletti.

Pochettino has been a long-term target for Chelsea since his time at Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wanted him but could not persuade Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to release him.

Chelsea’s new owners also spoke to Pochettino before taking Potter from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Enrique has some fans in the Chelsea boardroom after leaving his job with the Spanish national team following disappointment at the 2022 World Cup.

Chelsea will reportedly add one other manager to their shortlist. Rumoured names include Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim and Eintracht Frankfurt boss Olivier Glasner.
