Gonzalo Higuaín will depart Chelsea at the end of the season after the club decided not to pursue a permanent transfer.
The Argentine arrived at Stamford Bridge on loan in January from Juventus after spending an unsuccessful first six months of the season with Milan.
However, things haven’t fared much better for Higuaín in London and he has managed just five goals with the Blues.
The Daily Mail report that Chelsea have been unconvinced by the striker and will not look to sign him on a permanent basis from Juventus.
Under the terms of his loan deal, Higuaín could have been purchased by Chelsea for just over £31 or extend his loan by a further season for a £15m fee.
Juventus are not keen on bringing the former Real Madrid striker back and warned him last summer that he didn’t have a future at the club following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Although Maurizio Sarri specifically requested his signing in January due to their good relationship from their time at Napoli, things haven’t gone as planned.
Chelsea are instead set to offer Olivier Giroud a one-year extension to his current contract.
