According to reports, Chelsea have told French giants Paris Saint-Germain that they ‘want’ to sign Brazil international Neymar this summer.

The Blues have spent around £600m on new signings since Todd Boehly joined the club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The potential exits of Mason Mount and Kai Havertz will help them balance the books but they are also likely to splash out on signings themselves ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s first season at the helm at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino has been named as Chelsea’s new permanent head coach and he has a major job on his hands after the Londoners ended up in the bottom half under interim boss Frank Lampard.

The ex-Spurs head coach has been out of work since leaving PSG at the end of the 2021/22 season and he is now reportedly looking to reunite with Neymar.

Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos have already moved on, while Christophe Galtier has left after just one year in charge.

Now Le10Sport are reporting that the ‘madness at PSG is far from over’ as Chelsea are ‘positioning themselves’ to sign Neymar.

The Premier League outfit have ‘officially contacted PSG to open negotiations’ and it is their ‘objective’ to ‘work’ on signing the talented 31-year-old.

PSG have ‘noted’ this interest and they are ‘listening’ but the report is claiming that they are ‘not closed to the idea of letting Neymar leave’.

Though it is noted that Neymar’s exit would help them go on the ‘offensive’ for Man City star Bernardo Silva, who has also been linked with FC Barcelona.

French journalist Julien Laurens recently indicated that Neymar “would like the Premier League”.

“PSG have opened the door, well, not just the door, the windows, fridge doors, anything you want for him to go! They’re just waiting for someone to be interested,” Laurens said.

“We know that there were talks about Manchester United, which were not really true. I think Chelsea are quite keen, it will depend what Pochettino says, of course. I think he (Neymar) would like the Premier League.

“He doesn’t really want to be there anymore (at PSG). Chelsea are still high on his list, and he’s quite high on theirs, but there’s still a lot more work to be done on this one.”
