Chelsea are reportedly now keen on a new midfielder who played for his country on Friday evening as the international break continues.

Although it’s bland and boring, the international break does give a chance for club scouting teams to watch players they are interested in play on the big stage at international level and compile some new reports.

And it looks like that is what Chelsea scouts have been doing during this break, with one particular player being looked at closely.

Chelsea are said to be interested in Red Star Belgrade midfielder Andrija Maksimovic. According to Tutto Juve, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are all interested in the Serbian wonderkid.

The 17-year-old featured for Serbia on Friday in their 1-1 draw against Switzerland in the Nations League, coming on as a sub in the game a bit later on. He now has 3 senior caps for his country at such a young age.

Chelsea keen on young talents

We have grown used to Chelsea snapping up young talents from all around the world since the new owners and recruitment team came in to the club.

They want to get these players before they become big names and too expensive, and they already have a vast array of talent on their hands.

Maksimovic is already featuring in the Champions League with his club as well and is earning some great experience playing top level football. Chelsea are already said to have sent scouts to watch the young midfielder play, according to the same report.

We will have to wait and see if anything comes of this interest, because I am sure that he is just one of 100s of young players that they are looking at and having on the scouting lists right now. But he certainly does look to be a standout prospect.
