Chelsea are currently trying to negotiate the fee in an offer for a player they only signed in 2022 but are looking to now sell already.
The club are trying to do all they can to even spin a slight profit on what they paid for a player who has never been in their plans and let’s face it, never will be.
Cesare Casadei is a decent young player, but he’s never going to offer anything good enough to maintain a regular starting role for any Chelsea side now or in the future. I am pretty confident in saying that. I can see him having a decent career in Serie A though for a reasonable side, but I don’t ever really see him as a regular at a very top team.
Torino would be an ideal move for him and I can see him doing quite well there, and it is them who are making the £9.6m offer to try and sign him this month whilst the winter window is open.
However, Chelsea are trying to negotiate the deal even higher.
Casadei likely to leave Chelsea soon
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea paid an initial £12.6m for Casadei in 2022, plus £4.2m in potential future add-ons. Nobody will have any idea whether those add-ons have been reached yet, but there was a definite £12.6m paid at the very least.
So it sounds like Chelsea are trying to get that back and more.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Torino have offered £9.6 million for Casadei, with a percentage of future resale. However, Chelsea’s request is to reach a total “package” of £16.6 million with a buy-back option in their favour.
The negotiations are described as being ongoing as the two clubs try to reach an agreement soon.
