Chelsea have decided that they need competition for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez this coming season, and have looked to Spain. Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen looks to be nearing a move to Stamford Bridge.
Jorgensen renewed his contract at the start of the summer with a €40m release clause and a wage rise, but there was little suggestion that his future was set in stone at the time. Now Chelsea have improved their initial €20m offer for the 22-year-old and are settling on the structure of the deal.
Jorgensen and Chelsea have already agreed on personal terms, and the Yellow Submarine seem set for their first big sale of their summer. Villarreal coach Marcelino Garcia Toral already has former Leganes goalkeeper Diego Conde through the door, but it is not yet clear whether they will look for another option in the transfer market, with back-up Pepe Reina having also left this summer.
