Chelsea face Real Madrid tomorrow night in the Champions League semi final, the biggest game for the club in some years.
The good news is that it’s all set up for us, and there can be no excuses if we fail. Thomas Tuchel began his press conference today by confirming that Mateo Kovacic was his only injured player – everyone else is fit and would be in the squad for this first leg.
Football.London had the full quotes from the coach on his plethora of options.
Kovacic has been in good form, and it’s a shame to not have him as an option, but on the other hand the 343 system Tuchel has been using only has room for 2 central midfielders, and we’ve seen N’Golo Kante and Jorginho play well as that pair in the games since Kovacic’s injury.
Of course the problem comes later in the game, when there are limited options off the bench to replace either of those two.
