Chelsea were 3-0 up and cruised to a win against West Ham in yesterday’s Premier League early kick off. It was a good showing all around.

The home team were a bit of a shambles, especially early on, but that shouldn’t detract from the quality of Chelsea’s football in that first period. In particular we were loving Moises Caicedo, who was all action shielding the back line and also playing forward.

His lovely weighted first time pass through for Nicolas Jackson set up the second goal.

It wasn’t just fans who are loving his performance: Romeo Lavia has just Tweeted “Moi, embarrassed emoji, fire emoji.”

Now this is all well and good – we love to see teammates supporting teammates. But as plenty of the commenters have noted underneath – it would be nice to see Lavia playing with Moi rather than just Tweeting about him.

We were really hoping – perhaps not expecting – to see him named on the bench today. But nothing doing.

We had hoped a long break would put all that behind – him and his preseason showings were very promising.

Lavia back to struggles of last season

We still have faith this can be a great season for Romeo, but it’s off to the worst possible start.

And in the meantime, at least Caicedo is in great form and covering nicely for his absent Belgian colleague. We’re curious to see whether Lavia will be given some minutes with the B team in the Carabao Cup against Barrow tomorrow night to help him get back up to match speed,
