Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount says manager Frank Lampard's changes helped set him up to become the matchwinner at Fulham on Saturday.

Mount ran the show against Chelsea's west London rivals, completing more dribbles and creating a higher number of chances than any other player on the pitch.

He claimed after the final whistle that his goal was made possible by Mateo Kovacic stepping in to cover the defensive midfield position, an instruction that was given by the former Derby County midfielder after Jorginho was substituted with 25 minutes remaining.

"I turned 22 [last Sunday] and now I have two goals so it has been a good week and hopefully that continues," Mount told Chelsea's website.

"I should have had two against Fulham really, I should have scored in the first half, but I am happy with one as well.

"Jorginho went off and the manager brought Tammy [Abraham] on and then Timo [Werner] on so I dropped a bit deeper, and I was in there with Kov so I told him to sit a bit and that allowed me to go a bit more forward, and then I found myself in the box which recently in the last couple of weeks I haven't been doing.

"I haven't been getting in the box as much and that was something I looked at. I managed to get in there in this game and it fell to me."
