Some of Europe's top clubs wanted to sign the Leicester youngster.

Locking down the services of the 15-year-old has been a priority for the Foxes and their manager, Ruud Van Nistelrooy. While his own position at the club is far from safe, he has taken it upon himself to bring one of the club's best youngsters into the first-team, give him an initial taste of top flight football and push for Monga to agree to stay with Leicester.

He became the second-youngest player to ever feature in a Premier League match when he made his men's debut in the competition in early April, and it became clear pretty quickly why the winger was handed this golden opportunity.

Other top teams took notice. Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid were all linked with Monga by The Athletic, but they have missed out on their potential opportunity to snap up this star of the future.

Jeremy Monga signs new Leicester deal amid Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid interest

The teenager has agreed to stick around at the King Power Stadium, with the view that next summer, when he turns 17, he will be handed his first professional deal by the club.

Van Nistelrooy revealed in May that the club and the player were close to agreeing a new scholarship deal. "We want a future with him and hoping we can announce a contract with him soon," the Dutchman told The Athletic. "If he can stay and this is his future, and he can make minutes and build him into his pathway.

"I have had many conversations with him and his family and hopefully he can sign soon. But it is up to him. It is a joy to work with him. We sometimes talk about his GCSEs and mathematics, and I have to help him with that also, but then we talk about football also. He nearly scored a winner here also. That would have been a fairy tale."

Jeremy Monga deal was vital for Leicester to seal

Monga is one of nine youth-team players to have been handed renewed terms by Leicester this summer, but his deal was arguably the most important one.

Losing him to a Chelsea, a City or a Real at this stage of his life would've been horrible for the Foxes, who, if they can tie Monga down to a pro deal when he turns 17 next July, will stand to earn big money from should these top teams retain their interest in the winger.

If nothing else, Leicester supporters can thank Van Nistelrooy for introducing the 15-year-old into the first-team and showing the world what a prospect the club has in its grasp.
