I don’t think realistically you can rule anything at all out at this late stage of the transfer window now as Chelsea continue to look to try and bring in cover for Ben Chilwell.

They’ve pushed to recall Emerson Palmieri, they’ve actually recalled Kenedy already and he may well be an option, and they’ve been linked with other options as well. But as it stands, they’ve not done a lot.

Levi Colwill is currently out on loan with Huddersfield and realistically he will stay there having played his number of appearances to make a recall highly unlikely. However, interestingly enough, Colwill has been speaking to the Chelsea website this week and revealed that he CAN play as a left back and even played wing back at academy level.

I mean Chelsea cannot recall Emerson either but they are still trying. This is just me pondering a situation, and I am 99% sure that Colwill wont be bought back and will stay at Huddersfield, but his comments are interesting all the same.

“Growing up I was a left-back so I’ve always had that attacking side, driving forward with the ball and then that experience as a centre-half has helped my defensive side,” Colwill said.

“No matter what age you are, playing in different positions helps a lot.

“When I was younger and I played in a new position, I didn’t really like it because I didn’t understand it, but now I can see how it can help me get into a team. If our left-back is injured then I can fill in if needed so it brings a lot and it gives you a chance that you might not get if you only played one position.

“I’m happy I experienced that and I’m happy Chelsea did that for me when I was younger because it’s helped a lot now.”
