Chelsea linked with summer move for World Cup winning attacking midfielder | OneFootball

Chelsea are once again being linked with a move for World Cup winner Paulo Dybala ahead of the summer transfer window, amid calls for more experience to be added to the squad.

The Blues haven’t been shy of spending money since Todd Boehly and Clearlake took over the club in May 2022 and have twice shelled out over £100m on a player.

Chelsea are unlikely to be looking for an attacking midfielder this summer, with the club set to target a striker, centre back and left back, but that hasn’t stopped them being linked with Dybala again.

Football journalist Rudy Galetti has taken to X to provide an update on the 30-year-old’s future as the season nears it’s conclusion.

Galetti has suggested that both Chelsea and Spanish giants Barcelona have been in touch and have collected some “preliminary information” about the possibility of signing the AS Roma star.

Dybala’s current deal with the Italian side expires in 2025, and he is reportedly still waiting to open discussions with the club over a new deal.

It’s not clear at this stage how much it would cost to prize Dybala away from the Giallorossi, but if any team does manage to sign him, his experience and quality would be vital to them.

Dybala is believed to have a release clause of just €12m in his contract which is reportedly valid to clubs outside Italy until the end of July.

The Blues might feel they have a better chance of signing Dybala than their rivals, given their recent deal with the Serie A side for striker Romelu Lukaku.

Any potential move for the Argentine would be a move away from the club’s transfer policy given he doesn’t fit the age profile the Blue’s have been going for under Boehly.

However, both the fans and manager Mauricio Pocehttino have been calling out for more leadership and experience to be added to Chelsea’s young squad and Dybala would certainly tick both those boxes.
