Chelsea are interested in re-signing Nathan Ake, according to insider Nathan Gissing.

A fresh rumour that’s really come out of nowhere links the versatile central defender with a move back to Stamford Bridge, where he spent years in the youth academy before finally moving to Bournemouth.

His time at City has seen him play a regular role as a squad player, without ever really establishing himself as a first choice central defender for Pep Guardiola.

With Ruben Dias, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte all ahead of him in the pecking order, getting to the top of the pile will be a real challenge, and many of his minutes have come playing out of position or in cup competitions.

Gissing says that Thomas Tuchel is a “big fan” of Ake, and that could be the impetus behind the move. It wouldn’t surprise us at all if the Blues make this happen this summer.
