Former Chelsea defender John Terry has been inducted into the Premier League’s Hall of Fame, joining the league’s royalty.

Terry joins fellow Chelsea legend Ashley Cole, who was inducted earlier this year. The Hall of Fame celebrates individuals who have left an indelible mark on the Premier League.

Twenty-two inductees have already been enshrined, and Terry’s inclusion recognises his immense contribution to the league’s history.

Fans worldwide played a crucial role in Terry’s selection. An online public vote from a shortlist of 15 former players, combined with the Premier League Awards Panel’s decision, cemented his place in the Hall of Fame.

Terry spent his 19-year Premier League career with the Blues before a swansong season at Aston Villa. He also donned the Three Lions jersey, making over 75 appearances for England.

A product of Chelsea’s academy, Terry made his Premier League debut in 1998/99. The 43-year-old went on to make 492 appearances in the competition, captained the side to five Premier League titles, and established himself as one of the greatest-ever centre-backs.

The pinnacle of his league dominance came in the historic 2004/05 season. Chelsea conceded only 15 goals and kept an incredible 25 clean sheets that campaign – feats that remain unmatched in the Premier League era.

The Blues retained the trophy the following season, and Terry lifted the Premier League trophy twice more in 2009/10 and 2014/15, with the final triumph coming in his last season at Stamford Bridge (2016/17).

Terry helped to keep a record-breaking 214 clean sheets in the Premier League – the most by any defender.

He also holds the unique distinction of being the league’s highest-scoring defender, netting an impressive 41 goals throughout his career.

Chelsea’s two inductees in the 2024 class join fellow Blues legends Petr Cech, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba in the Hall of Fame.
