The 34-year-old keeper has spent the last five years at Kingsmeadow in what has been her second spell with Chelsea but the player is now set for a new adventure in the United States.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Chelsea this evening.
Telford has spent virtually her entire career playing in England with the keeper having also represented Sunderland, Leeds Carnegie and Notts County in addition to her spells with Chelsea. The England international did spend a short spell in Australia midway through her career with Telford turning out for Perth Glory.
In her time with Chelsea, Telford has won four league titles, two Vitality Women’s FA Cups, two FA Women’s Continental League Cups and the FA Women’s Community Shield.
After her Chelsea departure was announced, manager Emma Hayes said “Carly has been a fantastic servant to the club, a big character in the dressing room and a hugely valued member of our squad.
“We didn’t want to lose her but we could not hold her back from taking this fantastic opportunity in the States. We wish Carly well in this next chapter of her career and she knows she’ll always be welcome back here any time.”
Telford was named in Chelsea’s matchday squad for the final time against Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday.
