Chelsea are apparently interested in signing the Italian international Domenico Berardi.

The Sassuolo forward was outstanding in the Italian league last season and he carried that form into the European Championships with Italy.

Berardi picked up 17 goals and 8 assists for his club across all competitions last season.

His performances have caught the attention of clubs around Europe. Borussia Dortmund and West Ham United are thought to be keen on the player as well.

According to a report from Alfredo Pedulla, the wide forward is valued at €40 million and Chelsea are eyeing up a summer move for him as an alternative to Federico Chiesa.

Initially, the Blues wanted to sign the Juventus winger but he is considered untouchable by the Italian giants and Thomas Kuchel’s side have now turned their attentions to his compatriot Berardi.

The 26-year-old is at the peak of his powers right now and he could prove to be a quality addition for the Blues. Berardi’s direct playing style could help him settle into the Premier League. He will add pace and goals to the Chelsea attack.

The Blues definitely need more reinforcements in attack and Berardi could prove to be a quality addition for them.

The report further states that West Ham have enquired about the player in recent weeks and it remains to be seen whether the Hammers are prepared to follow up on that with a concrete bid.

The Hammers could use a quality attacker like Berardi as well but they have Jarrod Bowen playing in his position and David Moyes will struggle to accommodate both players in his starting line-up.
