The 3-1 win over Crystal Palace came amid the welcome returns of Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah, but saw Thiago Silva taken off with a groin problem.

The Brazilian could join Benoit Badiashile in being recently sidelined but Malo Gusto should stay away from the treatment room, having been taken off late on with fatigue rather than an injury.

As ever, the Blues boast a pretty lengthy injury list with Reece James and Romeo Lavia out of action, although Robert Sanchez has made positive steps in the past week.

Here is your latest update of Chelsea injury news and return dates...

Thiago Silva

Silva will be assessed in the coming days to determine the extent of a groin injury he suffered at Selhurst Park on Monday night.

Mauricio Pochettino confirmed post-match that the Brazilian “had felt something” after stretching to block a shot on the hour mark.

Benoit Badiashile

A groin injury suffered in the FA Cup win at Aston Villa will keep Badiashile sidelined for a month.

The Frenchman will miss the Carabao Cup final as well as games against Manchester City, Leeds, Brentford and possibly more.

Potential return date: March 2024

Romeo Lavia

Pochettino provided a dour update on Lavia’s injury when questioned before the Crystal Palace game.

The summer signing has only made one appearance for the club having struggled with his fitness and an ankle injury, and the Chelsea boss said it was “impossible” he would be fit for this month’s Carabao Cup final.

“He is not training with the team,” Pochettino stated. “He is still recovering. But no, no, impossible [that he will play in the final]. Still not on the pitch.”

Reece James

A recurring hamstring complaint led to James undergoing surgery in late December.

Chelsea are expected to be incredibly wary with his eventual return, with a best-case scenario that he can add to his paltry total of 450 minutes for the campaign in the final few weeks.

Club captain James, who attended the Super Bowl last weekend, revealed the negative reaction he received to his latest blow, writing on social media: “Since this injury, I've had a good amount of support but significantly more hate and negativity.”

Potential return date: Spring/summer 2024

Robert Sanchez

Chelsea goalkeeper Sanchez stepped up his recovery by taking part in “partial team training” for his “reconditioning phase” last week, as described by the club.

February was initially marked down as his return date when he picked up a knee injury at Everton in December.

Marc Cucurella

Cucurella underwent surgery on his ankle after suffering an injury in that ill-fated trip to Everton.

Still yet to return to training, it was originally estimated that he would be out for three months.

Potential return date: March/April 2024

Wesley Fofana

After suffering a serious knee injury last summer, Fofana is in a race to return before the end of the season.

The French defender posted the phrase “no days off” to his social media last month with some reports suggesting he could target a comeback as early as March.

Lesley Ugochukwu

Chelsea marked Ugochukwu down as “continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme” last week after he suffered another hamstring injury on Christmas Eve.
