Chelsea Transfer News: Emerson Palmieri emerges as target for Napoli

According to transfer news from The Sun, Chelsea outcast Emerson Palmieri has emerged as a target for Napoli. The two clubs are in talks with each other over the transfer fee which the Blues want is £13million. Napoli are hoping to get the player for around £10million.

Emerson has struggled massively to get any sort of game time this season. He has played a staggeringly low number of minutes, with most of them coming in cup competitions. Ben Chilwell has pretty much been Chelsea’s first-choice left-back/wingback.

Even Marcos Alonso was given chances to impress in the role. Emerson has only been used in a handful of games through the season. His long spells on the bench meant that he barely scraped through to the Italian side for the Euros.

Spalletti wants a reunion with Emerson

Now, the Italian full-back is said to be a transfer target for Napoli. The Serie A side want the full-back and are hoping to reduce the £13million asking price. Even though his wages are on the higher side, manager Luciano Spalletti wants the player. The pair have previously worked together at Roma.

Emerson has just one year left on his current deal. This transfer window represents the only chance for Chelsea to make any money off the deal. Clearly, he is not a part of the first-team plans and we should allow him to leave, even if it is at a reduced value.
