Brazilian side Flamengo are trying to sign Chelsea youngster Deivid Washington on loan according to reports, with the Blues looking to find a solution for the striker.

The transfer window may have closed in a number of countries but there are some markets that remain open and despite moving some players on before last Friday’s deadline there are still a number of other players the Blues would like to find solutions for.

The likes of Washington, David Datro Fofana and Angelo Gabriel are three players Chelsea would like to find new homes for, whether that be on a temporary or permanent basis.

Flamengo trying to sign Washington on loan

Chelsea signed Washington from Santos last summer and the teenager has played just 25 minutes of first team football for the club, whilst he’s predominantly featured for the under-21 side, where he scored six goals in 11 appearances.

It was an eventful deadline day for the striker, who at one point seemed as if he was closing in on a €21m move to sister club Strasbourg before that collapsed, with Chelsea reportedly concerned the Premier League could look into the deal.

Washington saw moves to Strasbourg and Hull collapse on deadline day.

It then appeared the Brazilian would join Championship side Hull on loan only for that to also fall through due to there not being enough time to complete the deal.

However, it appears there could be a solution in sight and Brazilian outlet Globo have reported that Flamengo are trying to sign Washington on loan.

The report adds that internally Flamengo consider it a difficult signing because of Monday’s looming deadline, but the striker did share a picture to social media of him in an aeroplane with the Brazilian flag which could have been hint the move was close.

Washington will be hoping the deal goes through as he just needs to go and play regular senior football in order to develop his game and reach the potential that Chelsea clearly see in him.
