Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Leicester City talent Jeremy Monga, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The 15-year-old is already playing with the Leicester first team, and Chelsea are looking to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues could face competition from Premier League leaders Manchester City for Monga’s signature.
Chelsea have spent billions on players in the past few years, mainly on established stars, but they are also checking on young talents.
Monga is regarded as one of the best prospects Leicester have produced, and it will be a real blow if Chelsea or Man City snap him up.
The youngster plays mainly as a winger, but he is capable of playing in other roles across the front line.
Monga was included in Leicester’s squad for the FA Cup clash against Manchester United, which gives an indication that the Foxes rate him highly.
Chelsea will be trying to do what Liverpool did when they signed Trey Nyoni from Leicester.
Players cannot sign professional contracts before they turn 17, and this means Chelsea can lure him away with a lucrative offer.
Nyoni was persuaded to leave Leicester when he was aged 16. The highly-rated midfielder has made 15 senior appearances for the Reds.
Chelsea may have to pay a compensation package to Leicester City if they manage to convince the player to leave the club.
Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are also interested in signing him, so he won’t have a shortage of admirers.
Ideally, Monga should continue at Leicester, as it is a great pathway for young talents to get into the first team, but Chelsea or Man City have the financial muscle to turn his head around.
