There has been a shocking twist in the transfer window on Saturday as Chelsea appear to have successfully hijacked Arsenal’s move for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk.

Initially reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Blues travelled to Poland to hold meetings with the Ukrainian club over the 22-year-old.

Mudryk has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners but a deal had yet to be finalized allowing other clubs to pounce.

And now, according to an update from The Athletic, the Blues have in fact reached an agreement for the player which will total €100m.

If it goes through, the deal with Chelsea will keep Mudryk at Stamford Bridge for the next seven years, and he is currently travelling to complete his medical in London ahead of becoming the club’s 13th signing since Todd Boehly’s takeover.

It is a massive loss for Mikel Arteta, but a boost for Graham Potter as the Blues look to build their squad and improve from a 10th-place spot in the table.
