It appears that Chelsea have now taken the lead in the race to sign the player. According to Fichajes, Chelsea are the favourites to get the deal done and it will be interesting to see if the Blues can secure his signature in the coming months.

The Swedish international would be an exceptional acquisition for Chelsea and he could transform them in the attack. They need a reliable goalscorer in their ranks and the 26-year-old would be the ideal fit. Nicolas Jackson has shown improvement this season and the former La Liga forward has done quite well. However, Chelsea need better players if they want to fight for major trophies regularly.

Viktor Gyokeres could improve Chelsea immensely

The 26-year-old Sporting CP striker could make an instant impact at Stamford Bridge and his prior experience of English football with Coventry City could come in handy.

There is no doubt that Gyokeres is good enough to play at the highest level and a move to Chelsea will be an attractive opportunity for him. He has proven himself in Portuguese football, and he will look to test himself in England now. Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they could provide him with the opportunity to compete for trophies.

Furthermore, a move to the London club could see him pocket a lucrative contract as well. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can secure an agreement with Sporting CP now.
