Chelsea’s defender contract situations might soon be eased up a little bit, according to a recent report.

With The Blues having four current centre backs in the last year of their contracts, there has been a real uncertainty going forward on who they will still have at the club next season. They could still end up losing all four of Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Thiago Silva on free transfers this summer.

However, according to 90min, Chelsea have always been confident of renewing the contracts of both Silva and Azpilicueta.

They also write that Silva is now close to agreeing his new deal at Chelsea, citing Brazilian reports.

This will be massive for the club, and it will take a lot of the pressure off the situation if they can soon get the club captain and Silva tied up to new deals, thus allowing them to then just concentrate on Rudiger and Christensen.
