Mason Mount’s Chelsea future is yet to be resolved and Premier League sides are circling and ready to pounce should he become available.

The 24-year-old has one-and-a-half-years left on his current Chelsea deal which expires in June 2024, but an agreement over an extension hasn’t yet been agreed with the club.

Mount is eyeing a significant increase on his current wages, having won Chelsea’s Player of the Season award for the last two seasons, but talks are still ongoing over such terms.

The Evening Standard reported that ‘little progress’ has been made over the England international’s new deal after discussions resumed following the World Cup in Qatar.

It’s been reported Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is now handling Mount’s contract renewal, with suggestion that is could be a seven-year-deal should he extend his stay in the capital.

However, Mount wants a salary closer to what his England friends are earning but Boehly and Co have pointed to the longer deals offered to the new signings last summer and in January, as well as the recent deal handed to right-back Reece James.

The Athletic have reported Chelsea will no longer let players reach the end of their contracts and, as a result, they will be sold ahead of time to receive a fee instead of allowing players to leave for nothing.

Therefore, this summer is crucial for Mount and Chelsea to strike an agreement otherwise the midfielder’s future, somewhere where he has spent over 15 years at the club coming through the ranks, will become extremely uncertain.

Nizaar Kinsella has added that clubs in the Premier League are showing interest in Mount.

Liverpool have been, and continue to be, strongly linked with a swoop for Mount, and they aren’t the only ‘Big Six’ Premier League side ready to test Chelsea’s resolve this summer if there’s any inclination of the club being ready to sell.
