Chelsea’s game against Watford has been stopped after 12 minutes because of a medical emergency in the crowd.

The Chelsea medical staff were among those helping a member of the crowd who appears to have had a heart attack.

We had confirmation that the game would resume in 5 minutes, with time for the players to warm up again, but we’re now hearing they don’t want to return to the pitch until they have confirmation on the fan’s status.

News on that front does seem positive, and word is filtering through on Amazon’s coverage that they are “stable”. After such a long delay, it seems likely the warmup period will have to be fairly long, however.

Let’s hope it doesn’t lead to more injuries, in any case. Watford have already been forced into one change.

Chelsea were in real trouble at the start of this game, and this break will hopefully have given Thomas Tuchel a chance to sort things out.
