Chelsea fined €10m by UEFA for “incomplete financial reporting” under Roman Abramovich | OneFootball

UEFA have confirmed their conclusion that Chelsea have breached the ‘Uefa Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations‘, due to submitting “incomplete financial information.”

Potential breaches for this matter were investigated following following the London side’s new ownership, the consortium BlueCo, who purchased the club in May 2022, reported “instances of potentially incomplete financial reporting under the club’s previous ownership.”

BlueCo were said to “proactively” report these potential instances to UEFA, which related to historical transactions that took place under Roman Abramovich’s ownership of the side between 2012 and 2019.

Following the assessment of the potential breaches, UEFA’s ‘Club Financial Control Body First Chamber’ reached a settlement agreement with Chelsea for The Blues to pay a fine of €10m in order to “fully resolve the reported matters.”

Furthermore, according to Martyn Ziegler, Chief sports reporter of The Times, these matters are “almost certainly” being investigated by the Premier League as well.

Chelsea will not be taking part in any UEFA competition next season, having only achieved a twelfth place league finish last season, their lowest since 1994.

As a result, Mauricio Pochettino’s new side will look to gain a fresh start to the new campaign, which they kick off on August 13 as they host Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
