Chelsea finally set for “direct contact” with Inter over Lukaku transfer details

Last week we reported that there had been no direct discussions between Chelsea and Inter Milan, but we told you not to panic.

That’s what intermediaries are for – taking messages back and forth and preparing the ground for the negotiations to come. The fact that Chelsea weren’t speaking to Inter yet wasn’t necessarily a bad sign, and today we hear from Fabrizio Romano that things are progressing – and “direct contact” is coming now.

He says that the loan fee Inter pay, the portion of salary they pay and “more” (presumably the mandatory or optional fee to turn the loan into a transfer) will all be discussed in the days to come.

Lukaku has spoken with Chelsea – he knows what we want, we know what he wants.

Now it’s time to speak to Inter to hear what they will pay. We should know pretty soon if a deal is at all feasible.
