Chelsea favourite names major reason Blues will be even better next season | OneFootball

Chelsea had a good season – but it could have been so much better. The Blues were looking like one of the best teams in Europe in the early stages of the season, and showed flashes of great stuff even in the last couple of months.

What really hurt them was injury, and the loss of Ben Chilwell and then Reece James really was the killer blow on the season.

In his column on the club’s official website today, Pat Nevin explained how happy had been to see Chilwell finally back in the game against Watford on Sunday, and he looked hopefully towards our next campaign, with both of them back:

“For a brief time we finally had Ben Chilwell and Reece James roaming the flanks again, and turning up in those areas where they terrorised almost every team at the start of the season. It was a heart-warming sight… Just as importantly, how do you think Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner and more than anyone, Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz, would feel about having that sort of quality service back on tap.”

There he echoes the thoughts of many Chelsea fans who gradually watched their season slip away. The hope is that with both our full backs there we will be back to the form we saw in September and October – and the attackers who struggled this season will be able to find a new gear too.
