This season is only just reaching its climax, yet there’s already a huge amount of looking forward to next season being done all over the place. There’s nowhere that’s more true than at Chelsea, where transfers and even our next coach have yet to be decided.

It is indeed a strange time of year – there are still games to play, and much is yet to be decided on the pitch, but at the same time there’s a great urge to look forward and get a jump on our rivals this summer.

This goes for managers as well as players – teams are all getting in to gear to try and secure the best coaches for next summer. But Chelsea can’t get distracted – they’ve got to focus on making the best of their remaining 6 games before they start thinking ahead too much.

Fabrizio Romano’s update on the situation around Benjamin Sesko really reveals how open it all is.

“I’m aware of more links with Benjamin Sesko, but it’s not really new, as I’ve mentioned Chelsea’s interest before,” the insider wrote in his exclusive column for Caught Offside.

“Still, I think we have to be patient on Sesko – time for decisions is not now, on both club and player side. It’s one to discuss probably next month, but now is still not something decided or clear.”

In a month we will know whether we’re making it into Europe or not, and Sesko will know a lot more clearly what his options are. It may well also be that at that point we’ve seen other options to strengthen up front taken off the market, making Sesko a clear number one. Or perhaps another side will have swooped in and signed him up.

All we know is that patience is the key here, and we don’t expect any more concrete updates about anything for a few weeks now as teams find out their final positions and their budgets for next season and players learn their options.
