Chelsea fans travelled to St James’ Park on Sunday.

A massive match with only three rounds of Premier League games remaining, Newcastle and Chelsea on the same points and goal difference.

Both clubs hoping to get Champions League qualification.

Chelsea fans had seen their team lose in all three games at St James’ Park against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, seven goals scored in total by NUFC and only one for the visitors across some five hours of football on Tyneside.

So what is the mood like amongst Chelsea fans now, with Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United making it four wins in a row over Chelsea at St James’ Park, with a 2-0 win?

Comments from Chelsea fans via their message board The Shed End :

‘St.James feels worse than Anfield with how the ref is influenced by the home crowd.’

‘Enzo has been properly mugged off by Bruno all 90. His goal was just the cherry on top.

The fact we lost this midfield battle with Joelinton out is honestly pathetic. Unprepared and outmanaged.’

‘So all that celebrating last week in the dressing room for beating Liverpool lads….maybe a bit too soon eh?’

‘Didn’t get to watch the game today but by all accounts we were pretty poor again. This leaves me wondering why so many Chelsea fans want CL football next season. I love to see us being successful but ending up in a CL group with the likes of Bayern, Barca, Real PSG etc will just be humiliating. We’re too dysfunctional atm. I’m sure many of our players are talented but they just don’t seem to fit together. Europa League would be more our standard I think.’

‘I think we’ll look back on that Jackson sending off as a textbook case of how to blow up your career at a football club. How does he come back from that? Really sad for the lad but what’s done is done.’

‘Eddie Howe came out after the game and said we made it hard for them in the second half, and gave us congratulations for doing so! way to stick the knife it!’

‘As a hater of Clearfake and Maresca serves them right if we do place 6th and lose the final.’

‘Thought the early goal rattled us. We lost confidence throughout the team and didn’t take risks in passing between the lines. We held onto the ball for too long and Newcastle saw we were rattled. We didn’t respond after goal and Maresca has to take most of the responsibility for this.

We were in the game until Jackson sending off but fought valiantly until the whistle.’

‘On the plus side, we are three points better off than I thought we were going to be from back-to-back fixtures against Liverpool and Newcastle !’

‘Upsetting but expected. We are a mid-table team with a mix of mediocre and okish players under a wannabe manager. We have to accept it.’

‘Think today was our chance of qualifying for the CL.

Can’t see us finishing top 5 now.’

‘You seriously think our best chance to qualify for CL was to beat Newcastle at their home ground, who have a notoriously good home record, and an especially good record against us in recent years?’

‘I didn’t expect a win, but I expect the players to turn up. Newcastle should have been out of sight in the first half, we were atrocious. How do you turn up to such a big game looking so disinterested?

Lose the game, but lose with some dignity. They gave a good go of it in the 2nd half, but the damage was done in the 1st thanks to how the players approached the game, and the idiocy of our clown striker.’

‘What makes this so difficult to take. A team that spent most of the game pinned back at home by a bang average 10 men with an awful goalkeeper. They’ll do f… all in the CL anyway.’

‘They’ll do more than us!’

‘Dull as ditchwater bunch of clueless yank-owned losers’

‘Newcastle are s..t.

And yet after spending 1.5 billion pounds we are worse.’

‘Newcastle have a better keeper than us, a better centre-forward than us and a better manager than us.’

‘Never seen a more pointless performance than Enzo’s tonight. Keep telling Bruno you have a World Cup whilst he runs circles around you dizzy.’

‘If we were any good we would win games like this.

The harsh reality is that we don’t win any games when major stakes are on the line.

Fair play, we beat Liverpool, but they were on their holidays they didn’t care.’

‘We haven’t deserved to lose this game.’

‘I think we have. Second half has looked better but we’ve really created very little. We’ve no serious goal threat.’

‘Billion pound bottle jobs.’

‘Kicked the ball in the floor for the first goal. Massive deflection for the second. Sometimes you can’t win.’

‘Game and season over! Villa and Newcastle will round out the top 5.’

‘I never expected to get a result at Newcastle anyway. But for Jackson to do what he did is absolutely brainless.’

‘Why didn’t we play like this in the first half?’

‘Because Newcastle pressed us in the first half and we s..t ourselves under pressure.

No need to press high when you’re winning and have a man advantage.

Maresca trying to shoe horn a boring style that doesn’t suit out players.’
