In a recent report, Calciomercato has mentioned that Chelsea are facing fierce competition in pursuit of Santos youngster Kai Jorge this summer. It is believed that the Blues will have to rival Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, AS Roma, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid in the race to land the Brazilian prospect, who wants to compete in European football after his contract at Urbano Caldeira Stadium expires in June (via Calciomercato).

Jorge’s Rapid Rise In Brazilian Football

Jorge came through the youth ranks of Santos before going on to make 55 senior appearances for the Brazilian outfit, finding the back of the net on nine occasions and providing one assist in multiple competitions.

The Olinda-born forward did well to average 1.1 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game in the previous Brasileirao campaign. The 19-year-old has even kept things tidy when distributing the ball in the final third after completing 82.7% of his attempted passes in the Brazilian top-flight last season (stats via whoscored).

Jorge has established himself as one of Brazilian football’s brightest young players, so it would be a massive coup for the Blues if they can lure him to the English capital when he becomes a free agent later this year.

Is Jorge A Prospect For The Future?

Jorge is a moderately paced striker who can time his runs well to beat the offside trap. At such a young age, he is turning into a dead-ball specialist as he can generate a lot of curve with his crosses and shot attempts. The Brazilian whizkid is also a good penalty taker and can be a potent threat from long-range because of his ability to strike the ball with precision and power. He has also got a great leap in him to win a few headers for his team.

An up-and-coming striker of Jorge’s skillset would add a lot of quality to Chelsea’s academy. If the South American prospect can settle into English football well, he has the potential to become an influential member of Thomas Tuchel’s squad in the coming seasons. There is no denying that Jorge will be a prospect to look out for in the future as he is a technically gifted footballer who has what it takes to be a success story in European football.

The Santos marksman is a star in the making, so Tuchel should consider offering him a chance to further his career at Stamford Bridge. At 19, Jorge would add a lot of long-term value to the West London club which makes him a decent target for the Blues to pursue this summer.
