Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, according to the Telegraph.
After securing a Champions League place and a spot in the Club World Cup, the club is eager to strengthen their squad.
Chelsea have already reached an agreement to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. Attention has now shifted to enhancing the quality of the wings.
The Blues struggled in attack last season. Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and others failed to deliver consistent goal returns.
The club is planning fresh additions to solve their scoring problems and improve their forward line.
Bynoe-Gittens has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time. The club enquired about the 20-year-old in January.
They have now reopened talks with Dortmund ahead of a possible summer transfer. The English winger has a release clause of around £50 million in his contract.
He is open to returning to England and is regarded as one of Europe’s top young talents.
He made headlines earlier this season when he became the youngest English player to score in the Champions League.
That goal came against Real Madrid, when he was just 20 years and 75 days old.
Bynoe-Gittens bagged 12 goals and five assists across all competitions this season.
He is renowned for his quick feet, pace and ability to cut inside from the wing.
The left-footed wide man often operates on the right flank and is known for making smart decisions.
Chelsea believe he can bring creativity and directness to their attack and compete with their current wide options.
The club’s interest in Bynoe-Gittens shows their intent to support Enzo Maresca and build a squad that can challenge on all fronts.
